WHO WE ARE

Lake County Fire Protection District is an independent special district with its own governing Board.  Our response area is the Eastern shore of Clear Lake, California, which covers the City of Clearlake and the unincorporated area of Lower Lake.

We are a combination department, paid and volunteer.  Our paid staff includes 1 Fire Chief, 1 Battalion Chief, 3 Captains, 3 Fire Apparatus Engineers, 9 Firefighter/Paramedics, 3 Paramedics, 3 EMTs, 1 Financial Analyst, and 1 Clerical Secretary.  Our volunteer staff includes 3 Captains, 1 Fire Apparatus Engineers, and 5 Firefighters.

Lake County Fire responds to over 4,500 calls per year including structure and wildland fires, vehicle accidents, technical rescue, hazardous materials, and medical aid. Our Main Station (Station 70) is where we primarily respond from and houses almost all of our paid staff. Station 65 in Lower Lake is staffed with 1 ALS personnel at all times.

Lake County Fire Protection District’s History

The Lake County Fire Protection District provides fire, rescue, Hazmat, and EMS services and transportation which covers 165 square miles and responds to approximately 5,200 calls for service. Our District’s average population ranges from 16,500 to over 50,000 during the summer tourist season. Lake County Fire is the result from the consolidation of Lower Lake Fire Protection District and Lakeshore Fire Protection District in 2001. We have seen several major changes in our roles and responsibilities to our community, such as the increase in EMS and trying to maintain a customer based service.

Our goals and objectives are to meet, exceed and sustain the community’s needs to our operations for future challenges, changes and demands that fact our District. We are continually seeking more efficient ways to provide and expand our level of services to our community. These services range from public assists, medical emergencies, local transports, fire/rescue operations, fire prevention for children and elderly citizens, all hazard preparedness, paramedic internships, and public and private relationships.
